What the extension is

AlmostZero Assistant builds and optimises Meta (Facebook and Instagram) ad campaigns inside your own Ads Manager, on instructions you give from your AlmostZero dashboard at app.almostzero.io. It runs only in your browser, only on Facebook, Instagram and AlmostZero pages, and only does work you start.

What it reads

• Ads Manager pages on facebook.com and business.facebook.com, to fill in the campaign, ad sets and ads you asked for, and to read the results of a build.
• Your own ad performance numbers from your Ads Manager session, when you run Optimize from the dashboard.
• The public Meta Ad Library, when you run Competitor Spy from the dashboard.
• Your AlmostZero dashboard session, so the extension knows which account the work belongs to.

What it sends to AlmostZero, and why

• Build progress and outcome: which steps ran, which were skipped and why, and the Ads Manager link of the finished draft, so your dashboard can show the status and our support team can help if a build stops.
• Screenshots of the Ads Manager tab, taken only at four moments during a build you started: when a step is skipped, when the extension pauses to ask you for help, when a build stops, and when the draft is finished. They are used to complete the build and to support you, and are visible only to AlmostZero staff.
• Optimize reports and Competitor Spy results, saved to your dashboard so you can read them later.
• Anonymous run statistics (which module ran, whether it succeeded), used to detect when Meta changes its interface.

Everything above goes only to app.almostzero.io, over HTTPS, tied to your signed-in dashboard session. Nothing is sent anywhere else. The extension does not read your Facebook password, your messages, or any page outside the sites listed above.

The daily check

Once a day, while Chrome is open, the extension reads the numbers of the ad account you build in (spend, results, clicks and reach, and the same numbers by age and by placement), read only, so the Optimize report in your dashboard is always up to date. It opens a quiet background Ads Manager tab for this, reads through your own Meta session, and closes that tab again. It never creates, changes, switches on or deletes anything, and never spends money. The numbers go only to your own AlmostZero dashboard. It is part of the service and runs while the extension is installed; to stop it, remove the extension.

Help during a support meeting

If you book a support meeting from your dashboard, the person helping you can offer to work inside the Ads Manager tab you are already looking at, instead of telling you where to click.

• It never starts on its own. A box appears on your screen naming the person asking, and nothing happens until you press Allow.
• It ends by itself after ten minutes, and a bar stays on screen the whole time with a Stop button that ends it immediately. Asking again means asking you again.
• It reaches the same sites and nothing more: facebook.com, business.facebook.com and instagram.com. Your other tabs, your files and everything else on your computer are out of reach, and there is no setting on our side that changes that.
• Only a fixed set of actions exists — click, type, select, scroll, read, screenshot — and all of them are part of the extension you installed. Nothing is ever downloaded and run.
• Every action is written down beside that meeting's record, so you and we can see afterwards exactly what was done.

What it does not do

• It never publishes a campaign. Publishing is always a button you press yourself in Ads Manager.
• It does not sell, rent or share your data with third parties, and does not use it for advertising to you.
• It does not track your browsing. It has no code running on sites other than Facebook, Instagram and AlmostZero.
• It does not download or run code from the internet. Everything it does is in the extension you installed.

Retention and control

• Build logs and screenshots are kept for up to 90 days for support, then deleted.
• The record of what was done during a support meeting is kept with that meeting, and deleted with it.
• Optimize and Spy reports stay in your dashboard until you delete them or close your account.
• Uninstalling the extension removes everything it stored in your browser. To have your server-side data deleted, write to us at the address below.

Permissions, in plain words

• Facebook and Instagram sites: to work inside Ads Manager and the Ad Library.
• almostzero.io: to receive instructions from your dashboard and report progress back.
• Tabs and scripting: to open Ads Manager and run the build steps there.
• Debugger: used only while a build you started is uploading your creative files into Ads Manager's file picker, which cannot be filled any other way. It is detached the moment the upload finishes, and Chrome shows a banner while it is in use.
• Storage and alarms: to remember the state of a running build, and to run the daily check that refreshes your Optimize report once a day.
• Messages from your dashboard: app.almostzero.io is the only website allowed to speak to the extension. That is how Build now reaches it, and how a support meeting asks your permission to help.
